VDU Equipment DescriptionThe VDU (Vacuum Distillation Unit) consist of a skid mounted force fed evaporator, glycol water distillation tower with side draw product outlet and concentration tower for 98% by wt. glycol product stream, built into a compact two vessel unit. The overhead water stream from the distillation towers are condensed in air or water cooled exchangers, for discharge to sewer, or used in the diluted glycol product streams. These units can use natural gas, propane, fuel oil, or waste oil for process heat. Unit sizes can be 1000 gallons per day to 20,000 gallon per day feed. Any of the glycol streams such as waste antifreeze (30 to 50% ethylene glycol), spent aircraft wing deicer, diethylene and triethylene glycols used in the dehydration of natural gas can be distilled in these units. Our "Dilutive Distillation" method allows us to strip the recovered fluid (glycol) from the contaminated stream at temperature much less than conventional distillation towers, thus reducing the degradation of heat sensitive fluids such as glycols and amines. The bottoms from the evaporator contain the degradation products, additive packs from the waste antifreeze and wing deicer streams, which is in slurry form. Click on image for a larger view
