Glycol Specialist has developed a portable refractometer kit, Model GA80-2, a
special dual scale instrument for measuring the concentration of glycol and
amine solutions at solutions strength up to 100%. A few drops of the sample are
placed on the prism cell and the reading from the refractometer is entered in
the accompanying table. The resulting concentration is read from the column
headed by compound being tested, i.e., ethylene glycol, di-ethylene glycol.
Standard samples of typical solutions are furnished with the refractometer for
calibration. Ease of operation and quick results allow the plant operator to
determine solution concentrations when trouble shooting glycol and amine plant
operations. Accuracy of the reading is within 1% of scale. Concentration scales
are available for the following solutions:
